Google is gearing up for a whopper of an event.

On October 4, the company is expected to announce several new hardware products, ranging from smartphones to speakers to a new intelligent router.

This is going to be the biggest product lineup Google has ever released. We'll be covering all the action live on October 4 starting at noon ET.

Google Home will be the star of the show.

We're expecting Google to answer all the remaining questions about Home, its connected speaker and rival to the Amazon Echo. So far, we have yet to see a live demo of the device and everything it can do. All we know is that it'll have Google's new Assistant living inside, which can help you with search queries, control connected appliances in your home, and play music from streaming services, among other things.

But how much will it cost? When can you buy it? How's the sound quality? And what else can it do?

Google is shaking up how it does smartphones.

Instead of a new Nexus phone, the company is said to rebrand its smartphone line this year as Pixel, the same name it gave its high-end Chromebook a few years ago.

According to Android Police, which covers Google news, Google will announce two new Pixel phones, the Pixel and the Pixel XL. The XL model will have a larger screen. Both phones are said to be built by HTC, but they won't feature any HTC branding. This is meant to be a pure Google phone, and it's a hint that Google intends to build its own hardware moving forward.

Of course, the Pixel will run the latest version of Android, called Nougat, and won't have any extra annoying software Android phone makers usually add to their devices. Google will likely sell the Pixel unlocked, too.

A new Chromecast that works with 4K TVs.

Google's newest Chromecast will support 4K video, according to Android Police.

The new version of the popular video-streaming gadget should appeal to those with high-end TVs, but most people will be fine getting the normal HD Chromecast. Most video isn't streamed in 4K, and most TVs today don't support it.

A virtual-reality headset that works with Android phones.

Google announced its new Android virtual-reality platform called Daydream earlier this year, and it looks like the first Daydream headset will be built by Google itself. According to Android Police, Google will call the device "Daydream View."

Daydream is an open-source design for VR headsets that lets you slot in an Android phone and enjoy VR content. It also comes with a wireless remote for controlling games and navigating menus.

However, it's still early days for Google's VR ambitions. Daydream will only work on certain high-end Android phones (you can bet the new Pixels will be included), and there likely won't be a ton of content to consume at first.

Google reportedly has a grand plan to merge Android with Chrome OS, the operating system that powers Chromebooks.

We may get a preview of that new operating system, supposedly called "Andromeda," at Google's event on October 4, according to Android Police.

This is the beginning of a huge shift for Google. It'll soon have one unified operating system running on all kinds of gadgets. However, Andromeda probably won't be ready until this time next year.

A new router that makes it easier to manage your connection.

Google wants to make Wi-Fi in the home better, and plans to announce a new router called Google Wi-Fi, according to Android Police.

The Android Police report makes Google Wi-Fi sound very similar to Eero, the tiny router system that lets you create a mesh network around your home. That means Google Wi-Fi, like Eero, will let you place tiny routers throughout your home so your connection remains strong no matter where you are.

A new 7-inch tablet.

Finally, Google may announce a new 7-inch Android tablet, according to Evan Blass, a gadget leaker with a near-perfect track record.

Blass says the tablet will be built by Huawei and launch before the end of the year.
