Think Your Parents Are Tough? This Mom Called the Cops on 3-Year-Old for Unbuckling Her Seat Belt
Moms and dads know the importance of teaching their children lessons in safety, but what's a parent to do when they just won't listen?
For one Scottsdale, Arizona, mom, the answer is simple: bring in reinforcements.
"Mommy! Mommy! She unbuckled her seatbelt."
Fortin's three-year-old daughter, Camille, had decided to undo her safety belt in the backseat.
The mom tried to reinforce the importance of staying buckled, but she was not convinced that her daughter understood. She tells KPHO:
"This was something that would hurt her. Her safety was at risk, so I took it for what it was — a teachable moment."
As soon as she got home, she made what she admits was an "extreme decision":
"[I] called the police and turned her in."
Two Phoenix-area police officers responded to her call, and explained to little Camille how important it is to always wear a seatbelt.
Camille took their words to heart — after the officers were finished talking, she assured them that she would never unbuckle her seatbelt again.
Fortin says that extreme as it may be, she knows her daughter won't forget this lesson
